Thirty–five years in government service is no joke. Much more, spending around two-thirds of this time preparing payrolls, counting salaries, making checks, handing out pay envelopes, and balancing ledgers.
Yet, this is precisely what Lauro B. Yorro, or “Tatang” as he is fondly called, had faithfully endured and performed unwaveringly. Tatang, the Chief Administrative Officer of ACPC, celebrated his 65th birthday on August 18, 2011, which signaled the start of his retirement from government service.
Tatang started his career as a public servant in 1972 as Finance Officer at the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA). There, he met his wife, Mrs Ester Yorro nee Gatbalite. Four years later, he transferred to the Technical Board for Agricultural Credit (TBAC) applying for the position of Senior Clerk. In 1987, he got promoted to Finance Officer of ACPC, which replaced the TBAC and the Presidential Committee on Agricultural Credit (PCAC). Eventually, Tatang became Chief of ACPC’s Cash Division.

In a simple send-off ceremony held on his 65th birthday, ACPC Exec. Dir. Jovita M. Corpuz expressed her gratitude to Tatang for his invaluable service to ACPC where he selflessly devoted his productive years. Exec. Dir. Corpuz commended Tatang for his dedication and diligence in the performance of his duties and responsibilities. The ACPC officers and staff were one in saying that they will surely miss the kind and soft-spokenTatang.
In response, Tatang said that he would equally miss the officers and staff of the ACPC who, he tearfully said, “had become part of his extended family”.
Asked about his plans after ACPC, Tatang confided that, he and his wife are planning to visit their daughter who now resides in the United States. He also said that he is contemplating on building a home in Quezon City that would be completed in time for Mrs. Yorro’s retirement in 2012.
Tatang, who hails from Pangil, Laguna is an Accounting Major graduate of the Far Eastern University (FEU). He and his wife are blessed with two children, Cherry Ann and Louie David, both of whom are already professionals themselves.
Congratulations Tatang for reaching this important milestone in your life. We wish you a very happy and enjoyable life beyond ACPC!
