   The Rural Household Business Finance (RHBF) Program is an innovative financing scheme (IFS) that provides financing to rural households for farm diversification and off-farm/non-farm micro-enterprises through rural financial institutions. This pilot scheme is being implemented in selected provinces in Mindanao.
 

 

OBJECTIVE

  • To support collateral short small agri/fishery households in partnership with lending agents.
  • To encourage agri/fishery households to engage in livelihood diversification activities and improve household income.

ELIGIBLE BORROWERS

Eligible borrowers are the spouses, heads or working adult members of small farmers/fisherfolk households.

  • Small farming households are defined as those whose heads or members are tilling not more than 5 hectares of land and/or are engaged as small poultry/livestock raisers.
  • Small fisherfolk refer to those operating fishing vessels of not more than 3 tons capacity, fishponds of less than 5 hectares or fishcages of less than 400 square meters or are fisherworkers in fishing boats, fishponds or fishing processing establishments.

ELIGIBLE PROJECTS

Any viable income generating activity(ies) of the agri/fishery household that can generate cash flows within the short term.

  • Farm/fishery project(s) provided that the household has another existing source of monthly income
  • Farm/fishery project(s) plus off-farm/non-farm activity(ies) operational for at least one year
  • Off-farm/non-farm activity(ies) provided that the household has existing farm project(s)

LOANABLE AMOUNT

Loan amount shall depend on the repayment capacity of the sub-borrower based on household’s cashflow but not to exceed P25,000.00

TERMS OF PAYMENT

The loan maturity shall not exceed one year and the amortization shall be based on the household’s cash flow. The amortization shall be at shortest interval possible. A borrower must have at least a monthly payment.

INTEREST RATES AND OTHER LOAN CONDITIONS

Interest rates and other loan conditions vary depending on each lending conduit.
